Plus she has substance abuse problems. I left cause of the lies, betrayal, and her inablity to address these problems. I think she'll be dead if she doesn't change. I really have no business in her life anymore, but I don't want to see her get worse. Any suggestions, oh yeah shes middle aged.

I had a friend who had an eating disorder. I completely understand how it sucked you in emotionally, because it happened to me. My life became her life, and all her problems, worries, I wore myself out. It is very very depressing and defeating to try to give someone else the will to stay alive. I tried getting her help, and took her to the doctor, checked her into clinics but she never got it that she had a problem. I watched her just disappear, and a shell of a person remained. My point is, there is only so much you can do, but keep in mind that you are a person too, and that you have needs and wants and simply that you cannot give someone the will to live. I lost my very dear friend, and I felt hopeless too, but I tried. When all is said and done, do what you can, and hope it is enough. Good Luck.

Do you still have contact with her family? Maybe her family can help. you left because of the lies, betrayal etc. if she didn't have these problems would you still be with her. Tell her the reason why you left and tell her you still worry about her
