My friend saw the live broadcast about her cancer and John Edwards said he hit his wife?? I assume it had to be some kind of joke - but can not find anything in the rebroadcasts... who saw this?

It appears as if they have cut it out of anything playing online now. I find the statment odd to begin with, but find it even odder that it is cut out now. Have to wonder what else we don't see in our evening "sound bites".

I seriously doubt that. She'd kick his butt, cancer or no cancer.

I saw the live broadcast. She explained when he hugged her there was a 'pop' and her rib had broken. Immediately after she explained that, he jokingly said aside,' I hit her'. I thought at the time that some Ann Coulter type would pick up on that and spread a rumor that he hit her and, sure enough, it happened. I find the comments against the Edwards on this site incredibly without factual basis and uneducated. I am a Republican but the Edwards are people of integrity and dedication to our country and we are so fortunate to have their inspirational presence.
I share your wonderment at what else is cut out of the news however, such as the caskets coming home from Iraq, the number of civilian Iraqis we killed, etc.

I'm sure they were joking. Someone just told me that he gave her a hug, and later her rib was broken, because the cancer had weakened it. I'm sure that is the real story.....
