In terms of almost every aspect of the game, Kobe Bryant is better. In the future, who knows, Carmelo might have a better career in the NBA. But as of now, there is no comparison.

Hi Lady Bug,

i think if you asked any GM in the league if they could draft either of those two players- an overwhelming majority (if not all) would choose Kobe.

Carmelo is having an exceptional season (this is the first time he is scoring while shooting a consistent percentage).

i think offensively- Kobe is the most prolific scorer in the league. He can go for 50 plus any night... Down the clutch i think you'd want the ball in Kobe's hands more than any other player in the league (maybe D. Wade)...

Defensively as well Kobe is much better- i don't recall Carmelo ever having made the all-defensive team.

Overall i think Kobe is the better overall player. It's shown by the fact that Carmelo has a better supporting cast and Kobe has the Lakers at the same place as Nuggets (record wise) with a starting line up that has been hurt all year and without as good of a supporting cast (i mean the Lakers have Smush Parker- who the heck wants that garbage?) Kobe also has won at the pro level- which Carmelo has yet to do.

Overall Kobe without a doubt.

Kobe Bryant. I am so tired of people rating these young players so high. They have only had a few good years. DOes that mean that Carmelo, Lebron, and Wade will not be as good as Kobe, no. That does mean that you cannot say that a 1st year All Star with no championships, no scoring title and no NBA all defensive teams is anywhere in the same league as a future hall of famer. Kobe is one of the best in the buisness and he was been for about 7 years. Carmelo i believe has just steped his game up this year. Camelo has to learn how to do more than score before he can be call a very good player. This year has has rebounded the ball better but he still has to learn how to play defense. Kone can score, assist, steal rebound( look at his stats). Kobe can also play defense( 7-8 times all defense team 1st or 2nd). Yoyu cannot begin to compare Kobe to any of the young talent in the NBA until the young talent can do some of these things and do them for a few more years consistantly.

unless Carmelo Anthony suddenly starts to develop more, it's Kobe no question. First off, Carmelo has Iverson to back him up and Kobe has Odom who has been injury-prone lately. Advantage Kobe.

Carmelo is consistent early in the game but down the stretch of the game he isn't usually the one hitting a buzzer beater. And on the Lakers, Kobe has the ball in his hands every time down the stretch to take the shot and most of the time he hits it. Advantage Kobe.

Carmelo is still young so who knows if he'll keep it up throughout his career. Kobe has been around for a long time and has been a great scorer. Advantage Kobe.

Personally I like Carmelo more because I don't like Kobe but there is no question that Kobe Bryant is the better basketball player.

Anthony is not quite there, yet. I feel that he has more in store for NBA fans next year. He has been consistently improving his game each of his four seasons in the league. Kobe is already primed. That leads me to think that Kobe is above Anthony by a notch. Anthony has been great and I think he will make the most out of this season as well.

I'm a huge syracuse fan, but if I were given the option today to build around a player, I would pick Kobe. He is much more complete and capable of taking a team on his shoulders. Look what Kobe has done alone with the Lakers this season.
