No, no, no. I hope we never definitively answer this question, but there's no way the Mavericks would be anywhere near the team they are w/o Dirk. Even when he's not scoring, he draws enough attention so that his teammates have an easier time scoring. Who do you think teams double out there? It's Dirk.
The most valuable thing a player does for their offense is drawing double teams. This results in mismatches, open looks and break downs in the opposing teams. I doubt they would double team Howard. As good as Howard has been. I don't think he causes tremendous mismatches. His lanes are open because of the attention Dirk draws. Not the other way around.

Although Dirk is very valuable to the organization, there are TWO people that can fill in for Dirk. Those two are a mix of the Jet and J-Howard. Also, if Dirk was injured for the whole season all we would have to do is put in a call to Keith Van Horn and we have a championship.

the mavs can win without dirk but it will be a tough game. their defense is the best in the NBA so that means that even without dirk they would be able to stop any other team because they are just missing one person

I think they can. Nash is important because of the Suns frenetic pace and he is the PG, he makes it go. If Dirk is hurt, they move Stackhouse to Howard's spot and J-Ho is just as good as Dirk. The bench suffers slightly, but the Mavs definitely can win without Dirk as long as J-Howard is there. IMO, Nash is the MVP but Dirk is the MOP (most OUTSTANDING player)

Mavs would have a very hard time without Dirk. Besides his great scoring and rebounding, he commands so much attention that it causes the others players to get scoring opportunities.

Can the suns win without Nash?
I dont think so, they lost lots of games when he was out, and they dont really have a natural PG out there.
Can the Mavz win without Dirk?
Not really, but we havnt seen that situation this year, so we need to wait and see if they can be champs.

Dampier and Stackhouse would have to step it up big time. I think the team would fair well but would miss his services.

thats a crazy question of course not. dirk is there best player and there number one scoring option. plus dirk is on his way to being mvp. if i had a team and we lost our mvp we'd be in trouble.
