It's Lesbos, actually. It's an island in the Mediterranean.
The original word comes from ancient Greek times. There was a famous intellectual woman (which wasn't really allowed in those days) on that island that was a lover of women. So women that love women are called lesbians after this intellectual woman from Lesbos.
