From findings about the microwave background radiation, studies of the oldest stars, and deep space pictures from Hubble, the universe is between 10 billion to 20 billion years old. Thus the average is given as 15 billion years old.

Estimates by cosmologists puts the farthest objects 13.5 billion light years away.
These objects did not start out there, they had to start here so that would put the universe at something more than 26 billion years old.
The universe is probably much younger than this, maybe somewhere on the order of 7 to10 billion years.
The universe is a quantum entity so it must have a maximum size.
It is a time driven entity so eventually the pulses would spread to unusable variations, after which chaos would ensue.
he universe could never be chaotic so it must go out of existence before that situation occurs.

Najj is right about the age. It is 13.7 billion years old, with a margin of error of roughly 200 million years.

This age was first determined by data from the COBE satellite--COsmic Background Explorer. It was later confirmed by data from the WMAP sattelite--the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe.

The Chandra X-ray observatory has confirmed these findings with independent data from other parts of the electromagnetic spectrum.

Depends on whose theory you wish to believe. Some say 13 billion years, others say almost 20 billion years old. It's all theory.
