If this friendship is not offering anything positive to your grandson's behavior, I would limit the time he spends with him, and try to encourage him to make friends with a child in his karate class or baseball team.

now, that means your grandson is a copycat and copycats are those, who dont have any talent of thier own! so his friend must be very talented that he is doing this now, your solution is you must keep them apart as possible as you can & and you should explain your Grandson the what is doing and ask him about his own like's and dislikes he should be minded with his own things for some time and tell his friend that ,'' no, my talent is better! you must leave your things''

He's in the stage where he's trying to find where he stands in life, let him know that all people are different, tell him not to be a follower, but a leader, explain the difference

you might want to sit him down and tell him the most vital growing up story of all: the being an individual story.
i think every parent/guardian should have this talk with their kids at least once before age 10.

You really can't at his age. His mind is sort of at a manipulative stage and sooner than later he'll do what he wants to do.

he's still little.
let him do what he wants to do, it's his learning process.
it'll let him learn much more things by following what his friends doing.
and maybe he'll learnt that he actually likes what you told him to do.
