My husband and I didn't want to do the "dating" thing of going to dinner and a movie. So we started coming up with unique ideas.

1. Go to the library and check out a cookbook on ethnic cuisine. Go grocery shopping together to get what you need and cook it.

2. Go to the zoo. Most zoos are either free or inexpensive. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the day.

3. Go to a museum and laugh at the naked statues or wonder why people think it's art.

4. Look for unusual activities in your city by looking up the tourism or chamber of commerce.

5. Take a day trip and see an old village, the beach, the mountains, a wheat field. Something you don't see every day. My husband (now), when we were dating wanted seafood so we drove 2 1/2 hours to the beach ate dinner and came home. We had a great time talking.

6. Go on a hike. Go to a local park or state park and plan an all day hiking event.

7. Plan a walk around a local garden or arboretum.

8. Go to the Hallmark store and read cards to each other. When we were really broke we'd go and say, "If I had enough money to send you a card, I'd send you this one. We would laugh our heads off and had a great time."

9. Plan a project together like putting together a piece of furniture or refinishing or re-covering a piece of furniture.

10. Go househunting together and see all the "open" houses in the area. (Especially in new, really nice expensive neighborhoods)

11. Instead of eating dinner, do a reverse and go get dessert and then plan on dinner.

12. Meet at a coffee shop and try a new coffee or pastry.

13. Try a different kind of restaurant. Drive around your city and take a look a sketchy-looking, dives and if there are a lot of cars try it out.

14. Try to get lost in your city or plan a scavenger hunt. The prize could be who buys the ice cream at the end.

15. Go to a very public place and watch people doing strange things. We still do this one. It provides great stories when you realize what people do when they think no one's watching!

16.Do a service project together like Habitat for Humanity or serve every once in awhile in a soup kitchen.

17. Try to find a local national marker without a map. We used to drive up to DC to the Smithsonian and try to find it and a parking space without a map.

18. Go find a local holiday festival. Like go to the park when they're hosting a Easter egg hunt and join in the festivities.

19. "Borrow" someone else's kid and take him/her to the park, Chucky Cheese, Bullwinkles, Disney, etc. and have a blast doing things you wouldn't normally do together.

20. Go fishing (if you don't normally fish, rent a pole and don't put bait on it and practice casting)

21. Stay home and play games like Uno or a jigsaw puzzle.

22. Meet for breakfast and then just grab a newspaper and see what's going on for that day.

23. Learn to make candy or bake cakes and decorate them together.

24. Play a sport like tennis or frisbee golf.

25. Go to a sporting event.

26. In the spring, a lot of public high schools are putting on their annual plays. Some are terrible, but most are pretty good.

27. Go to a concert. Most parks start offering free concerts around this time of the year.

28. Go to a Barnes and Noble or your public library and read magazines while you eat a pastry.

29. Go to a big store like Whole Foods or Sams Club and see if you can eat an entire meal off of the samples. (I saw that on TV once). It's best to do that on a Saturday.

30. Check out local craft fairs and festivals. They usually have good food as well and interesting crafts.

I hope this is a good start. We still have fun doing most of these. (Though I've found the craft fair was only fun when we were dating. Now that we're married, he hates crowds.)

1. Have a game night with another couple.
2. Go dancing.
3. Mini Golf - I know it's cliche, but make up a contest, with different rules. Be creative, you'll have a blast and you'll annoy other couples that are playing normally.
4. Do a picnic with a nice bottle of wine (If you are 21 or over), fruits, cheeses, fresh baked bread, cold cuts, condiments, etc. Where I lived, there was a waterfall that is the highest in PA, and virtually nobody ever went there, and there was a romantic spot for exactlly that sort of thing.
5. Do a road trip with a cd you both enjoy.
6. Ice skating
7. Go to a city, if you are in a city, do something you usually take for granted, like going to the roof of a skyscraper.
8. Go to an amusement park
9. Live bands
10. Start a poker night.

If you live in an area where you can do this I suggest a hike if you are both outdoorsie. Perhaps a walk on a beach, thorugh a local park or reserve. Take a class in something. Recently I completed a scuba certification class with my guy. Was the best Tuesday and Thursday date nights I've ever had! Now I do indoor rock climbing with him and occationally go to the shooting range!

Do something you both want to try or are interested in. You'll have lots of fun.

Horseback riding, amusement parks, strawberry picking (sounds corny but it is fun!), set up a date on the beach (picnic style) or even in the park, laser tags or paintball (don't know if you like that sort of thing but I think it is a lot of fun!), hot air balloon, hiking, go-karts, golfing, fishing, magic show, sailing, planetarium, go to art museum or some type of museum, or rock climbing. So many fun things to do now that the weather is getting nicer! Have a great time together

Go to a thrift store and buy a bunch of junk you would like to see smashed into bits and peices. And then go to the top of a building or parking garage(and make sure this is legal and safe, check with police or security about this) and drop all the stuff to the ground and watch it crash. Its a lot of fun!! Or if not. you could go to a dance studio and learn a new dance like a tango or somthing! Thats always fun!

Go to a cemetery at night and well you get the idea.

Take a grill and steaks and plates and go to the beach, lake, mountains, great outdoors and grill dinner outside and enjoy a bottle of wine with dinner.

Go to a church at night, they're usually open, and pledge yourselves in love.

Go to a dinner playhouse (a play and dinner)

Go to the museum with friends and then dinner.

Go dancing. If there's no place to dance, bring your boom box to the great outdoors and dance, dance, dance.

Go fly kites together.

Go fishing together.

Go to a place where you can play paintball wars. The indoor places are great. It's a good work out and will get your adrenaline flowing.
