It was announced that either Kyle Snyder or Julian Tavares will take over Papelbon's spot in the rotation. Tavares did a great job as a spot starter at the end of last season. I am not very confident in Kyle Snyder in the rotation.

Remember Jon Lester will be back in May. That means that Kyle Snyder and Julian Tavarez only have to make a few spot starts between days off and rains in the Northeast in the first 6 to 8 weeks of the season. Schilling, Beckett, Dice-K, Wakefield and Lester. That is a solid starting 5. Snyder gives the Red Sox an added dimension, a decent long reliever for the 5th or 6th inning. Ditto for Tavarez who I watched in one of his starts in September. He did very well. Finally, if Tavarez and Snyder are getting the job done as spot starters and are not needed, they will have a great deal of value by late July.

I didnt even hear about that. As good of a closer as Papelbon was last year, I think the Red Sox are wasting his potential like that.

Although most would say Snyder or Tavarez, it will most likely be Pinero. He's had the most success as a spot starter and would do well starting in Boston.

I am sure they will let us all know and that they already have someone in mind. Stay tuned. This has to be MORE exciting than listening to Roger the dodger Clemens contradicting himself in every interview.

Chow!!
