I'm not too sure who he was, the question was deleted, I put him as a contact and hope he is still there, however, my question has to do with some of the responces to his plea for help. There were plenty of great advice, plea's to not eat the bullet, wait a day, see a chaplin, and such, really good solid responces to steer him away from suicide. However, there were also morons that basically shut him down. These people are no better than those who stand on a sidewalk looking at a desperate soul on a ledge and screeming "JUMP". "David P" started his responce with name calling. I was going to search for the others as soon as I got on today but it's gone.
The question... What do you think Yahoo Answers should do with these losers who try to push people over the edge in suicidal cases? These morons who hide behind freedom of speech, when all they want to do is be responcible for someones death? I know what I would like to do to them, and it ain't pretty!

Yahoo are sending out violations and suspending people who really are trying to help, and not the sickos that appear in most categories....There are also kids on here as young as eight being confronted with pornography!!...yet those people presenting the photos are not being suspended..WHY??....maybe Yahoo should be held accountable and employ people like you to sift through the sick content and pull it out !!......I would also be willing to do just that !!...and I am sure there are many more who would too !!....I would also suggest to Yahoo to have professional help on hand for people like the one you mentioned....and...they should have a kids Yahoo, as this site is definitely full of adult only content............great question, hope the person is ok and is getting the help he needs right now..........

Please print a copy of The Community Guidelines for yourself.
They state the "rules" and expressly forbid "pushing someone over the edge" and I would think you brave to report anyone who would be so careless, especially with a soldier. Look at #1 You May Not Post Content: and then has all the abuses that qualify.
That is tragic. I am ashamed for them in their place. God forgive them and protect the soldier. May he find the help, strength, and relief to survive.

I try to think of Yahoo answers as a cocktail party or a public venue like Washington Park. Whatever you say is like calling it out to everyone there- except in reality it's more like hundreds of people. Nobody holds the city government accountable for what people say in public. I don't feel like yahoo has any responsibility whatsoever for addressing people's potential problems from miles away. People in the community have a moral responsibility to address these issues as they see fit. But even suicidal people have to realize that chatrooms and internet venues are always going to have their share of trolls and idiots. Hopefully they don't take it too personally.

I would love to agree with you. I do in principle, but really...Yahoo! Answers is not a crisis line. I can not imagine a suicidal person reaching out via the Internet (Y!A) for help. Their attention seeking behavior is usually done on a more personal level.
By the way, I do not mean "attention seeking behavior" in a bad way. They are reaching out for help instead of directly asking for it.
Unfirtunately, Y!A is not a place for real answers for the most part. It is a place for entertainment.
I know that if I needed the answer to a question, I would not come here for a serious answer.

I know that YA does not allow members to coerse harm to humans or animals.
They should shut them down totally because of the fragile nature of some of these folks. I agree with you, I have seen the same thing. Promoting suicide, even if u r kidding, is dangerous and totally not classy. I will report it when I see it.
There are some real sick-o's here.

Unfortunately, in addition to being a great place to get opinions, advise and/or guidance, it's also a very good place for people to be anonymous hateful jerks! Many of them I'm certain, are miserable and loney people. They don't get any attention in their normal everyday life, so they come here and exibit "shocking!" behavior! If the guy you speak of was for real, I hope he found his chaplain or another soldier to lean on. God knows I wouldn't wish being a soldier deployed in a war on even an enemy.

Sick bunch of non-caring individuals. How about this.....we create a new reality show. We identify individuals that try and goad others into carryign out their suicide attempts. nce idnetified, we screw with their lives behind their backs. Bring them to the point where they just wanna die and end it all.
Us good people can then gather around them and cheer them on so they get a taste of their own medicine. Of course, we don't let them kill themselves, and reviel the hidden cameras and watch them crumble.
We could call it "Change of Heart". I think it would go over pretty big. âº

Y/A is an open forum, with all the censoring going on regarding the advars, I wonder if they know who is seriously asking a question, and who is just going for crack pot answers. The desperate teenie boppers and lonely housewives, women beaters and child abusers.
That was a very unfortunate incident you spoke of.

Unfortunately, as you pointed out, even morons have freedom of speech. At least he got some compassionate and good answers from what you said. Its sad, why don't the morons go over there to fight.

The problem isn't just with people who answer the questions like that. It's also with people who are just putting those types of questions on here as some kind of joke. If I'm not sure if it's a joke or if it's serious then I don't answer it.
