I'm going to be induced by the doctor on the 28th and I'm really bumbed out about it. I really wanted everything to go as naturally as possible. The doc said that there is a chance that I may go into labor on my own before then, sooooo I want to try to speed that up if I can. If I weren't going to be induced I wouldn't be asking this question, but I really don't want to have to experiance all the extra pain of hospital induced labor.
Also keep in mind that I'm a Gestational diebetic, so anything that involves lots of carbs won't be a good thing for me or the baby. High bloodsugar is the last thing we want for a new born baby.

Thanks to whomever answers.

sex is the best way to get labor going! This works in two ways to induce labor. First, female orgasm can bring on contractions. Second, semen contains prostaglandins. Prostaglandins work to help ripe and soften the cervix. Stimulating the nipples triggers the production of natural oxytocin. Oxytocin contracts the uterus. Raspberry leaf tea may also help.

back in the good ole days, women took castor oil to induce labor. not really sure if it works, but you have to usually drink a whole bottle. if you don't go into labor, you'll definitely spend a lot of time on the potty. Walk as much as possible, do some stretching, squats. I know that sounds funny, but I truly believe it helps. And try having sex. Some experts believe it helps too. By the way, I know some women who were induced, and they said it wasn't that bad. Just move around alot. Sitting and doing nothing will get you nowhere.

First travel to a change of elevation. Then you need to walk all day long. Also drink lots of water. This made my sis go into labor. She went from our small town to phoenix (~3 hr drive). Then she walked around the mall all day. THe doctor said that both of these things contributed to her having her baby 6 weeks early. Only do this if you are positive that your doctor doesn't think it best for you to get induced. You really shouldn't be scared of inducement, but it's entirely up to you. Good Luck!!

I love A Baby Story on TLC and one woman induced her labor by adding Castor oil to ice cream. YUCK! The thing about that is it causes major diarrhea. I have heard that unprotected sex, exercise, heavy duty cleaning or any other such activity can sometimes induce labor. Good luck!

Well...i was supposed to be induced with my first baby...but had him the day before!...I read that orgasms are a natrual inducement, so i tried it and had many orgasms before my due date during sex and luckily i had my baby the day before. Its natural and can work. It worked for me!

Unfortunately i dont think you should. Your doctor really knows whats best, after all, they didnt go to school for nothing. Anything you take that the doctor doesnt approve of can hurt the baby. I know you want it to be as natural as possible, but you dont want to risk the babys health. Just be patient and go with the doctor. The doctor is not going to let anything harm your baby. Wheras, you might, even if its from a natural wholefoods store or something. I wouldnt mess with medications, or anything, even if it is natural. Although one way that wont hurt your baby is lots of sex. Thats works and it wont hurt the baby as long as your doctor has said that you can have sex cuz your healthy enough.

walking alot helps even though i know it is straining......also have sex mainly reaching the orgasimic part because it puts a little pressure for you water to break faster. those are the 2 most common i have heard of.
