i agree with the first answer,,,,,,, i do not think they are opposites or complements,,,,,, they are two totally,, when felt deeply, unrelated emotions,,,,,,,,,, though yes you can have love change to hate,,,,,,, and vice versa,,,,,,, but, i dont in those cases think that it is a true , down in your soul hate to begin with or end with, in those situations,,,,,,,,

The test of opposites is, can you experience both of them at the same time. For example can you be angry and patient at the same time?, can you be hot and cold at the same time, can you have faith and fear at the same time? I agree hate and love can change from one to the other rapidly, but I don't see how one can experience both simultanously.
Personally I do not see hate as having an existence of its own. What feels like hate is the witholding of love.

Hate is a simple and base emotion. Love is an extraordinary and complex emotion.
You can easily hate things about people that you love. You can love people that you would normally hate. You can hate people because they don't love you in return.
I don't believe they are complements or opposites

The complement and opposite of love is fear. In perfect love there is no fear; because fear comes from ignorance, and this has nothing to do with love, knowledge does.
The complement and opposite of hate is joy; because hate comes from anger, and this has nothing to do with love, happiness does.
Enjoy!

That's a good question. Personally it really fits on the way I feel about one guy right now.
I love him, every single thing of his personality, probably, because we are both so similar. However, we do have our differences, and sometimes small things makes me hate him, but love him the those same reasons at the same time... Am I crazy?

I don't think that they're all that far apart in the whole spectrum of things. Both of them are an extreme of caring. I'd say that the opposite of either is indifference, not eachother.

Hate and Love are neither opposites or compliments to each other but are individually exclusive of each other.
They are two unique emotions that cannot simultaneously exist.

They are 2 sides of the same exact coin. We "love" the values that embrace us, but "hate" those same values if they reject us. To mature is to recognize this and learn to respect those values regardless all the while accepting responsibility for why those values re regard so highly, reject us.
