I was just wondering.... When I'm not working or when I'm unemployed and just looking for work or even when I have holidays, my confidence, self esteem goes sky high but when I do get back into work again, I feel that my confidence goes back down again after a few weeks and my performance is not that good. Why is that? Why cant I ever settle?

You don't like being strapped to a routine every day. You like to take your day in stride and go with the flow. You hate being tied down to a schedule. Theres nothing wrong with that. There are all kinds of people in this world. Your type makes up about 25% of them. Your personality type is the best at entreprenuership, and tackling new challenges. So go for it! When you get some free time on your hands, try your shot at starting a new business or a new trade. Remember, stick to something that you find enjoyment in.

Only YOU know exactly what it is in your workplace situation that is eroding your confidence and job performance. These values are so intertangled that they almost cannot be separated.
That is not necessarily a bad thing, though, because if you can manage to raise either one, the other will naturally come up with it. Since you mention periods of unemployment as periods of relief from this problem, I am presuming it is not related to one single job and/or work envirnoment, but rather to whatever it is you do for a living.
The best antidote for low confidence is more competance. Do whatever it is that you need to do in order to improve your level of job skills. Read some books, take some classes, whaterever it takes. When you become better at what you are doing, you will feel more confident and better about life in general

Sounds to me like you're in the wrong line of work -- if it were one job, I'd suggest the bosses are pills who zap your self-esteem.

But if this happens from job to job, then I can't help thinking you're in jobs that rely on things that aren't your strengths.

When you're doing things that you're good at, that you have an aptitude for, that are congenial to your mind, then you would be having more fun and feeling much more capable, as well as performing well.

Doing something that just isn't your thing WILL bring you down -- because it's not right for you.

For example, if you're in sales, but you aren't a big people-person, say, you're good at analyzing things, then you won't be good at sales, and you'll feel incompetent, and not enjoy it.

It's a mis-fit.

If you're in the right kind of job for your personality and abilities, it would feel natural and you'd enjoy it and succeed.

See if you can either identify the kinds of things you're good at, or take some aptitude tests.

Then go into that field, or go for that kind of job.

I would venture a guess and ask if Boredom might not describe your feeling when you tire of a job. Your intellect might be greater than your job opportunities, which means the jobs you qualify for aren't as mentally stimulating as you require to stay actively interested. That's where I would start and then I would see what educational schools might be a possibility for you. Also aptitude tests would certainly help. They gauge not only your ability but your interests as well. You need thorough testing and I suggest you avail yourself of your state agencies in the employment listings. Good luck. It's never too late to pursue more education.

Just try to do one good job a day ,with your honest efforts.
Before going to bed ask your heart whether you have done
the days work rightously , if so , forget about any ctitics, keep
cool , your work will show its colors after a considerble time period. Its just your positive attitude that will settle you . No one can hurt your confidence. Try it.

Because your not happy. You should work doing something you enjoy and look forward to going to work. Or maybe you just feel unappreciated and over worked.
