Bleach will most-likely damage it.
I use Lysol disinfectanct spray.
It has never damaged the seat for me.

I use scrubbing bubbles as my cleaner of choice for most of the bathroom, exception being is the floor. I had a wooden seat at one time if it didnt damage it at all.

The one product I like to use is Barkeeper's Friend. I don't think it's too harsh for wood, and the stuff works like a dream.

Try Simple Green. It is all natural and it works on cleaning everything, but it won't harm the surface. I use it (diluted according to the directions) on our laminate floors all the time and have had nothing but success.

I do this when the kids are sick, I put a fair amount of hand sanitizing liquid on a piece of paper towel and then you just wipe the toilet seat with it no more germs, and it dries instantly!
Hope this helps......

I hesitate to use bleach on wood too. But Lysol should be good.
