I feel many of the the all time top sellers would have lost on American Idol. If they had come on the show as young an unknown.

American Idol is a dumb joke.Do you think Elton John would win.The people who win on this show will be gone from public view ten years from now. It takes more then a good singer with a pretty face to make it as a Icon. Madonna and Elton will live on as Icons years after Idol has been off the air.

I totally agree! I love her personally but she's got tha attitude that wouldn't play well on t.v. I also think MANY of today's favorites wouldn't do well on AI either. Examples: any of My Chemical Romance guys (especially my boy, Gerard Way), Chris Carrabba (Dashboard Confessional), Fergie, CEE-LO from Gnarls Barkley, ANY of the Panic At The Disco guys, Amy from Evanescence, etc. They NEVER like people who are edgy at ALL....They like prom queens and ken dolls. I think the powers that BE on Idol were VERY upset that Ruben Studdard, Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks ended up doing SO well! They didn't fit the 'PERFECT' fantasy that they like to portray on the show (Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Katharine McPhee, etc.) Talent is LARGELY ignored on the show. It's more STYLE over substance often.

I agree with you. It seems like American Idol really only wants cookie-cutter pop singers. Elvis probably wouldn't have made it either.

I think she probably would not have made it through the auditions based on what they go for...
but dude...madonna rocks!!!!

all about looks not talent. If you're ugly and have talent forget it.
