get a common denominator:

5/6 - 3/5

The lowest common denominator is 30:

(5/5)(5/6) - (6/6)(3/5)

25/30 - 18/30

Then combine them:

(25 - 18) / 30

Your answer is: 7/30

(5/6) - (3/5)
first find the common denominator.
Here, it is 5*6 = 30.
Now, determine how many times 5 goes in 30. Multiply the number with 5.
6 goes 5 times, so 5 * 5 = 25.
do the same for the second fraction.
5 goes 6 times in 30, so 6 * 3 = 18
(25 - 18)/30
=7/30

first off, you need a common demoninator.
since the LCD(least common demoninator) is 30
times it so the bottom equals 30.
5/6 x 5/5
&&
3/5 x 6/6
equals
25/30 - 18/30
just minus straight through
so
25 - 18 = 7
and you keep the denominator
the final answer is
7/30

Cross Multiplication rule should be applied to make the denominators equal.

=>1) Multiply DR of fraction2 with NR of fraction1 and place the ans in FR1's NR.

2)Multiply DR of FR1 with NR of FR2 and place the ans in FR2's NR

3)Multiply DR of FR1 with DR of FR1 and place it in DR of FR1 & FR2

4)When denominators are equal subtraction of NR can be done.

5/6 -3/5 =( (5*5) - (3*6) ) / (6*5) [Finding the LCM of two denominators(6,5)

=(25-18) / (6*5)

=7/30
