Every few months I'll remember a dream...but other than that it's blank...Are there steps to help you remember?

It may be perfectly normal (for you), but in some people it can also be a sign of chronically disturbed sleeping patterns, possibly from medications, snoring or sleep apnea, or other conditions. When the normal sleep cycle is prevented or constantly interrupted, an individual may always remain in light sleep which is not fully restful and results in a shortened REM (dreaming) period.

No it's not unusual & there aren't any steps to help remember that I know of. I have the same issue as you. I rarely remember any of my dreams unless I have an extremely vivid one w/ details that really stand out. I can only remember 2 in the past 6 months & only because they were vivid & had the same theme. I had a baby in both but I think it was just a sign because my one sister just found out a little while ago (w/ in these 6 months) that she's pregnant.

I've got one friend who NEVER remembers his dreams. He swears he doesn't have any but that's not true. Everyone has dreams regardless of whether they remember or not....he doesn't at all.

I've been told to keep a notebook & pen next to the bed so that if you remember anything right when you wake up, to write it down & supposedly you'll start remembering. Never tried it but I don't think it works for everyone to be honest.

It is not unusual and seems to occur with people who are extremely tired and in a heavy sleep. They wake up too quickly to an alarm or by habit. They sleep too soundly. Deep sleep is not the best sleep.
