Is there a penalty after 6 months main SS website down other one poor info. Any info appreciated

i dont think its that hard...I haven't changed mine yet ( married 3 years) but i heard you just go down to your local SS office with your Cert. of marriage and they change everything on SS information...Then you have to go to DMV, get a new ID and then once you have the new ID and SS Card then start to call all your bills and change your name...and credit cards.

No not me... It was natural and fast... Happened as soon as i said i do and the marriage license was sighned. You will need to go to the local SS office in your area if you cannot get on the site and tell them this change in person. Good luck to you and take your marriage license Birth certificate and maybe even your drivers license and this should be a big help. Then after this is done you should get it changed on your drivers license as well. You also need to let the bill people and things like that know as well ... You can easily do this by calling them and they will change it in their computers and data bases. Good luck to you and i hope things go smoothly and happily so.
