But I read on the description on the cable, that both computers need to be Pentium based. My new computer (the one with Vista) has an MAD chip, but the old one is a Pentium 4, is there THAT much difference, and if not why does it say they both need to be Pentium computers?

Just create a network between the two computers. Thats how I would do it. There are many ways to transfer files other than a "transfer cable". That sounds like a rediculous requirement that both PCs need to be pentium based. Sounds like a vondor bias to me

Cheapest way would be to buy a USB drive and manually copy the files between systems.

Otherwise you could get a cross-over cable and connect both systems (you have to configure the TCP/IP Settings manually, setup sharing and transfer the files).
