Now if I set it free it could have a pretty harmful effect on everything - what if it isn't native to the country and it killed all our birds? Or if it had a disease and killed our birds and anything that ate it? Or if it has spent its whole life in a cage and would just die if it were released?
I'd keep it in the cage and look after it as best I could.

We used to take in wild birds of all kinds, rehabilitate and then free them, and it is a beautiful sight to see the wind hit their wings after being caged.

I have a nice spot to put the cage on, and I'll tell the kids that we have a new pet and never open the cage at all if they know whats good for them.

no animal should be caged. however, if it was caged..chances are it couldnt survive the wild because of this captivity...
- so...i would find somebody or some organisation that has a large aviary..where it could sort of be semi-free and mix with its own kind - and have a happy life!!

We all need a pet in a cage, don't we? Makes us feel like we're better than them. Humans crave that for some reason.
Plus, if it gives you everything you want, it must be happy to be in the cage or it would stop giving!
