Most common purple flowered weeds are violets and hensbit. Both are stubborn because they have waxy outer layers that prevent the absorbtion of herbicide. Find a product with a 2D4 ingredient...(cool power is one commercial brand). This will help breakdown the waxy layer to allow for good herbicide penetration. Read the label carefully when using this product. There are tempature restrictions to be aware of to prevent burning your turf grass.

Products Like Scott's Weed -N- Feed are great for killing common weeds while promoting healthy lawns.

I don't know which weed you have but pull it up and take it into a lawn care store. There are pictures of the weeds right on the Scott's bags.

If you have a match....go to town.

This is a plague at this time of the year. Any common weed killer will kill this. Weed Be Gone etc. Spray early and weekly for 2-3 weeks.

If the weeds have sharp thorns on the leave and flower stems, They are thistles. If the weeds are low fern-like vines, they are probably vetch. You should identify the weed as different herbicides work for different types of weeds. Round-Up works on thistles, I don't know what works on vetch.

LOL They are actually flowers. I discovered this when I looked them up online. Call a landscaper in your area and he will rid you of the "weeds". :)

This weed is called Corn Speedwell and is very difficult to control. I pull mine out and use fertilizers with weed control, seems to work well.
