Of course he's using it to gain support. Politicians these days have no actual souls. They only care about their public image and gaining more power, and are willing to use any small advantage they can get to achieve those goals.

I knew someone would say this sooner or later. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
She is a breast cancer research advocate. Publicizing her battle with cancer helps that cause. How selfish of her to want to help find a cure for a disease that kills millions of women every year.
And if Edwards had withdrawn without explanation, you'd be jumping all over him.

I think that is a reprehensible suggestion.
As much as I do not care for Edwards' politics, I do not believe that he would do such a thing.
And even as much as I think liberals are overly emotion-driven, I do not believe that they would increase their support for Edwards based on this, regardless of how much they sympathize with his wife's and his plight.

He's a candidate for President. Anything that happens in his life will be televised. This is as asinine as the "Why do liberals wish Cheney was dead" questions.

I think your question is uncalled for and insensitive. A candidates health is the public's business and by extension, so is his spouses health.
