Slightly embarrassing question...I am 35 weeks pregnant. One of my nipples has a kind of white spot in the middle of it - what is this? Something to do with my milk?
But the other nipple has nothing. Is is common for the breasts to be different?

Serious answers only please!

It is perfectly normal. It has to do with the milk ducts preparing. It is mainly dead skin. Your breasts can be different sizes and have different milk production. Mine actually got smaller. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Wait to be embarrassed when you are in line at the grocery store and notice your breast pad failed. That one is fun.

I am also going to have a baby it is going to be my 4Th child the white spot in the middle of your nipple is only the milk getting ready. It is only showing that your milk is getting ready for the new baby nothing to worry about, and milk starts to come in different in both breasts. If one is touched more often then the other it will show more in that one when the baby comes they will look the same.

Hi I have had three children and breast fed all of them. Be assured this is quite normal and you will notice other changes aswell. Your body prepares your body and these spots sound like the oil ducts that come up to protest your nipples from some of the soremess. You will notice that the nipples will get darker and breasts will become swollen and the veins will become more visable. Good luck and enjoy that little bundle.

Yes, That white spot is probably dried Milk under your Milk Duct, have you tied squeezing it out a little? Well even when you have the baby the milk behind it will squeeze it out. BUt you should show you OB anyways, I would. Not unnormal for both to be different.

Good luck! I am 39 weeks and im due tuesday, so nervous!

This is very normal. it is called Colostrum!! Colostrum is the first milk your body makes. It will provide your baby with everything he or she needs to start life, including a dose of immunities and protection from jaundice. Towards the end of pregnancy some women may find that their breasts leak this golden color fluid. Or you may notice that your nipples have a film or caked substance, this is all colostrum. You can use a breast pad if it becomes noticeable or if it makes you feel more comfortable. I had it with my son!

Could be a milk duct. If it comes off then that is what it is. Some people can actually pop the white dots to unclog their milk ducts. If you have a clogged duct after the baby is born, you will want to take care of that!
I know clogged ducts going to happen right now, but ask your doctor about it at your next appt.

It is common for your breasts to change in appearance and size when pregnant. Mine had light brown spots. Just part of all the changes going on. It is very common for only one breast to change, or for one to have more discoloration than the other. Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy!

It's actually just a little dried colostrum, which is basically "pre-milk". It's normal. I had the same issue. Take note of what breast this is, (I had a dominant breast, believe it or not - the one with the white substance was always the one that would "let down" better.

It's just your breasts getting ready to produce milk. Mine did that when I was pregnant too. The other breast might have done that and you just didn't notice.
I am breastfeeding my 3 month old daughter and my breasts are different. One produces more milk than the other one..... I make it work out fine though.
Ask you doctor or talk to him about it also.
