here's the situation. i have a 5 yr old in k-g, a 3 yr old in pre-k so they are not home the whole day. my 3 yr old gets home at 10:30am. i also have a 8 mo old and i am a stay at home mom. a friend asked me to watch her 3mo old baby about 2-3 days a week. she will need me to watch the baby from 7am to 3pm my oldest gets home at 3. with three of my own kids to watch, how much should i charge her for the baby? i was thinking $10.00 a day. my kids are content to watch movies and play in their room, except my youngest who still needs to be changed and bottle fed.

I wouldn't charge less than $75.00 for the three days. That is alot of work on your part not only having young children yourself but to throw a 3 month old into the mix. If she were to go to a daycare she would be paying anywhere from 150.00 to 200.00 a week whether it be 1 day to a week. So you would be finding yourself short changed if you did it for less.

ten dollars is pretty generous even though she is your friend, having three of your own kids and adding an infant plus the baby you have is a lot, trust me I know how it is to have 2 infants at the same time, i have twins. I would say at least 20 dollars a day and your still giving her a good deal, a daycare would charge at least 35 to 40 dollars a day for an infant.

$10 a day sounds VERY cheap.

We are in California, have a 4 year old and a 3 year old. We pay $12 an hour.

Look at it from an hourly rate perspective. At 10 a day you don't even make $2.00 per hour, you make $1.25/hr. I'd say $20.00. That is $2.50/hr. Way cheaper than most daycares I've been to. With the added bonus that she knows and trusts you.

depends how many children you're watching and how many hours you'll be there. i've babysat 9 hours 4 days straight and got $125 in total....one of the days i stayed overtime becuase one of the parents were late. sometimes they'll ask you're rate..if you let them name a price it might be a little more than you might have suggested...if it is....take advantage of the extra cash
