I would assume he's been elsewhere with someone else.......however, I had a friend that wanted to borrow my apartment while I was out of town and I got in trouble for what was left behind. My boyfriend went off the roof.
I would confront your boyfriend. If he looks away, gets angry, or acts nonchalant....then he is hiding something and that should be your first sign to ditch him.
