M. Scott Peck:
Evil is when someone pursues a goal regardless of the effect on others.
Perhaps his goal is to feed his children? But 100 other families suffer in his pursuit. Is that the absence of good?

I see evil as being the lack of awareness of goodness; or perhaps evil is something that we can experience, or preferably just have a memory of, to help us recognize that goodness is who we really are.

no, i think there is evil, and there is good,,, and there is also the inbetween (that or who does no harm, yet does no good),,,,,,, evil can florish when there is an absence of good, and also when there is a large amount of inbetween,,,,,,
evil is a specific force that is negative and harmful,,, and often happens around the good, or towards the good

I agree with Kaplump. Without evil, there is no goodness. Without goodness, there is no evil. in one of my emails i got, there was an optical illusion where, in black, it said Good, bu i the middle, in white, it said Evil. You cannot have one without the other.

I think the shadow proves the sunshine.
Thus, yin - yang, without the one, the other would be unproveable.
