I consider why the thing is bad for me. I talk to someone I love and trust, someone who will listen to what I have to say and who will give advice that is truthful. I think of ways to make myself feel better about the situation that do not involve "getting back at" the person that hurt me.

Interesting and tough question. For me, it depends upon the degree of "badness", so to speak. If I wake up late in the morning, for example, I just take my time without hurrying since I'm going to be late anyway. However, if I lose someone or something that is really close to me through death or destruction, I grieve for the loss and feel hollow and depressed. I don't really "do" anything out of the ordinary, since I live in the world and have to continue to function as normally as possible. Time alone is a two-edged sword sometimes - it allows for contemplation, but it also allows for tail-spinning into a deeper depressed state of mind. Time spent with others sometimes delays the time required to process the effects of bad happenings. Talking with someone can be cathartic, but is can also risk adverse reactions from the listener. So what do I do when something bad happens to me? I reflect, learn, grieve if necessary, and try to adjust as I continue my walk through the wilderness of life.

It depends how bad or what happened. I usually see if I am responsible for what happened and if I am than I make a note not to that again.
If it because of someone else. I talk with the person and get it straight right away.
If it is from out of the sky!!!
I am more or less a positive person, and feel I am responsible 100% for how my life turns out!!!
Even a flat tire....

I call my mother, because no matter how bad th situation or how sad I am she will make me smile. She always turns the situation around to make it seem like theres a better outcome and that everything happens for a reason. Then once I am done sobbing like a little girl to my mom I go out and buy myself some expensive beatiful flowers.

I remember "And this too shall pass...."

If it's really bad or too much for me to deal with, I will write down what happened, then go through a whole series of exercises revealing my feelings and the validity of those. Let me know if you would like to see my system.
