It may seem like a silly question. I'm assuming it's okay to have your hair already dyed... I am just planning to start trying to conceive next month. So, I would like to dye my hair now. Is that right? Thanks!

Dying your hair hurting the baby is just a myth.
I wouldn't go crazy...and use foil instead of cap...but dye away!

before my last pregnancy i kept my hair dyed. and with my first i actually had it dyed while pregnant. that was 8 years ago and i didn't hear anything about it hurting the baby untill my second pregnancy (last year). both my kids are perfectly healthy and the nursemidwife i saw said there was nothing that said hair dye would definately cause birth defects, but that most drs advised against it while pregnant. she did however tell me there were soome all natural dyes out there. they are harder to find, but if it makes you feel better it's worth looking. if all else fails, call your gyn pr even the labor hall at your local hospital. they can give you the latest updates on weither it is safe or not.

You can even dye your hair whilst pregnant- if you wait until the first trimester has gone.
It's only because the hormones might make you more sensitive to the smell, and the colour might not take as well during pregnancy, but that doesn't mean that you can't try it...wait for week 12 to pass though!

Now would be the time to do it, because after you get pregnant you can not dye your hair for at least the next 9 months. So don't dye it any color that will be hard to maintain once you get pregnant.

Dye it now before you are pregnant and your hormones take over and the color you want and put in is not what comes out!! Good Luck!!

yes that does not affect the baby this is a myth. I have had two kids and idyes my hair both times and least twice each in those nine months

Yes but once you are pregnant you're not supposed to dye your hair so it might not look so good when it grows out.

you should ask your obgyn because of the stuff they put in the coloring can stay in your body for so many days but i have only heard that it should'nt be done being pregent ,
