I used to have awful gut wrenching period cramps, so bad I would take those couple days off work. When I was pregnant, I had no pains, and when my labor started the pains were not as bad as I thought they were but they were still intense. It hurt worse than any period I ever had (and I never thought that was possible)
Everyone is different though.

Every woman is different. If you are having very intense pain you should see a doctor as this may be a sign of something more serious. As for pregnancy...each pregnancy can be different for the same woman. I have crampy periods, I'm crabby and I get back aches. I have had three kids and felt no pain with the first two. Pretty rough pain with the last. That's why they make drugs and epidurals.

I had extremely painful periods as a teen. I went on the pill to make them manageable. Seriously I couldn't get out of bed some months. I was deeply afraid I would never be able to get off the pill to become pregnant.

However I stopped taking the pill, I still had cramps but they were liveable. I got pregnant, and I have to tell you -with preparation, childbirth isn't painful -for me anyway. I didn't need nor want anything.

God knows I could have used an epidural during my period as a teen though!

Well for me I was the one who had the terrible cramps, backaches, and headaches. I mean I would get them so bad I would literally pass out. I've had three kids and I think having the bad cramps made it easier for me to cope with the pain of childbirth. I could deal with the contractions and I didn't need any medication either. So I think it made it easier for me instead of harder.

its different and that all relies on teh body, The pain that you feel when you have your cycle is no where near what you feel when you have a baby, your muscles are contracting to help get teh baby out
