I agree with you on that one. I do have Medicaid for my daughter but I also work 2 jobs and go to school full time, so I will be able to support her. To teach her she can do anything if she puts her mind to it.
Oh yeah and I think I'm one of the few people in the world that doesn't have a cell phone. Like man above me said....my baby gotta eat.

No it does'nt bother me. The amount of money you can get by selling an old computer or save by signing up for free 1 month trials of internet service, is not enough to support your kids. If I were yelling at my monitor I would say, IF YOU GOT YOUR TUBES TIED BEFORE YOU STARTED FORNICATING, YOU WOULD'NT HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
If you want to become the type of smart-*** liberal intelectual who make fun of republicans, you need to learn a little more about welfare.
In the past when we were cave men, if you lived in a tribe that had too many members who did'nt do their share of the work, but ate their share of the food, you would starve. We evolved into a species that had a hard wired instinct to hate people who did'nt do their share of the work. This benefitted the tribe because nobody wanted to be thought of as lazy, thus we feel it is immoral to not work. This was OK when the things we needed were made or grown by hands. Now we have machines that do most of the work. We don't need the labor poor people could contribute. Did you ever go to a store and not be able to get an item because lazy people were not making enough of them? If we are going to form a utopia where everybody does his share of the work there will have to be some form of work rationing. That is not going to happen. The yuppies control things, they want their families to be 2 adults who both have good jobs and no kids. This will enable them to buy all these things that the poor can't afford. They want the welfare people to work, but they don't want to hire them. The poor are not willing to become extinct to enable the rich to ban welfare so they can pay lower taxes and put more money in the bank. If they need handouts to survive, they will want them. this answer may make sense if u read it a 2nd time.

I've noticed that, too. Or they buy cigarettes and we, the people, pay for their kids food and diapers.
I know a woman with three kids by three different men none of whom she is getting support from and she used to get a huge monetary amount of food stamps and she found a shifty store owner that would give her cash for the food stamps and she would buy pop, candy, chips and lottery and cry because her kids were hungry. She fell under suspicion because the store owner got busted and has since been given only a "bridge" card and been forced to get a job. She lives with her parents now. she is in her late thirties. At least the store owner is out of business. This type of thing goes on far more than we know. It makes honest, hard working single Mom's or families who really need assistance look bad and how unfair is THAT?!

Kudos to you for not taking advantage of the system. Unfortunately it is our tax payers that support those on welfare and government assistance.
Yes, I agree that if they cannot afford to buy diapers or schools supplies, there are ways that they can obtain these items such as a yard sale. I know this one young woman who has 3 kids, each from a different father who is on welfare but can afford to get tattoos and piercings, yet she complains that the "fathers" don't help.
You are right in that it makes the rest of us look bad and stereotypes families who are in need and are out there trying to change their circumstances.

you go girl. not saying that it is not tough to make it out there but some people are just too lazy to even try to make it. i know some people like that. the only thing they do is complain and they never do anything about it and when something happens and they are in a tight situation, for them it is always poor me. i think it is good that we have a system out there for the betterment of people, i just wish that people did not use it as their way from having to work their whole life. welfare is not enough to raise a child the right way and they suffer just as much if not more as their parents do by not getting a good education. good luck.

I understand what you're saying. Some people really do need that help, but if they do, what are they doing wasting time on Y! answers? They could be working to earn money. Most women can work right up until they're just about ready to have their child. Both my older sisters are also young mothers and they knew their families would be financially supported before they got married and had kids.

It is depressing and yes, infuriating as well. I see some of the stuff they write and I am totally flabberghasted. How the heck did our society get to this point, anyway?
Is there any hope? Well, it sure looks grim for the future because it is statistically likely their children will be the same way. The numbers just grow geometrically and makes one want to pull their hair out.

Yes, and what really gets me is the government encourages more babies in this already over populated world by tying large tax deductions and all the aid to the number of kids you have. I know younger people who actually think they hit the lotto come tax time...buying cars boats lawn mowers whatever with their $6000.00 and up refunds...very sad state of affairs. and should it be called a refund if yo get more back than you actually pay in? call it a hand out like it really is!

It pisses me off to no end. I have literally seen young mothers who make me want to spit in their faces. They think that welfare is the way, instead of getting a job. I felt so ashamed that I had to pay $25 to go to the prosecutors office to get this court stuff done with my ex because I didn't have the money for a lawyer. It's the same thing, but still, I feel like since I have a job and what not, I should be able to afford a lawyer. Apparently not.

Ouch dude!! I don't think that anyone that can afford a computer would ask a question like that. How do you know they weren't at the library? What are you doing in that section anyway? Just looking for something to complain about? Get a grip! The only thing that infuriates me is that ppl don't seem to think before they speak. You have no clue what's going on in their lives! STOP PREJUDGING! Quite frankly I don't mind helping ppl that need it. What you guys don't understand is that even if that money wasn't going to those families we wouldn't see it. It would go to the government and prolly pay for something worse like the damn war or all the lavish things the people in these offices desire. It's a catch 22.
