I was trying to solve this using the VSEPR theory and I was not able to. I don't know if this is correct, but I believe there are 19 valence electrons. I know chlorine does not form multiple bonds with oxygen, so there has to be 2 bonded pairs with 7 lone pairs? and if there are 7 lone pairs, what happens to the extra valence electron not in a pair? I'm completly lost. Can anyone show me how the find the molecular shape (linear, trigonal planer, bent, tetrahedral, or trigonal pyramidal)?
