You should wait until he is at least 6 months old and then only give him juice that has been diluted heavily with water. Here's why:

Because of the sugars in juice, it can cause diarrhea.

Too much juice can cause a child to be overweight or obese.

Juice contains sugars and acids that can cause tooth decay.

Giving your baby too much juice can hinder growth and development, and can cause malnutrition and anemia due to lack of nutrients like proteins and complex carbohydrates.

If you are still breastfeeding, juice can cause your baby to nurse less

Gerber 100% Single Fruit Juices
Before you know it, your baby will be ready to enjoy the benefits of fruit juice. The American Academy of Pediatrics says that it can be part of a baby's healthy, well-balanced diet any time after the age of 6 months. But not just any juice will do. The AAP recommends 100% juice, and that your baby consume no more than 4 to 6 ounces a day.

When starting juice i would water it down because even though it is juice it is strong and it will stringle your baby so be sure to do that and check out the below website.

You can give him real juice at the age of 5 months. The best juice for a baby is Gerber juice, because it's not loaded with a lot of sugars and dyes. After giving him juice take a wet washcloth and wipe the inside of his mouth all around so that the natural sweeteners from the juice doesn't linger in his mouth. Not doing that can eventually cause dental problems, such as cavities. Good Luck

Doctors recommend that babies be breast fed exclusively for the first 6 months of life but if you have started feeding your baby with cereals at 5 months, that's unfortunate.
However, I would advise that you should also include the juice as it is even better than the cereals but make sure it's not very acidic fruits but very soft ones.

At 6 months, they can have juice, but you need to dilute it. Half juice, half water. Juices like the Gerber juices are the best. Juicy Juice isn't. It has way too much sugar.

And not orange juice. It has way too much acid. Stick with plain juices like apple, white grape, pear, etc.

If he is tolerating the rice you can give him half 100% juice and half water. It's easier on a baby's stomach.

You should be fine to give him juice. If it is 100% juice you may want to water it down at first. Juicy Juice or gerber's juice will be fine.

juice is just sugar water... its empty calories... much like rice cereal. Stick to fresh foods, water and breastmilk.
