You may notice lag, but most of the time its within tolerance. Any game in the MMORPG market is going to have some lag..nature of the beast. Yes you can play without BC expansion. People are ... people. Some are willing to help..some are not.

Quests? Well. Hmmm. WoW is a 'solo-friendly' environment for the most part. I suppose i'm a bit biased against WoW in this regard. If your experience is like mine, you will be gaming by yourself a lot till you decide to go into the dungeons. Dungeons are always good places to get a group because the quests are much too difficult for one person at the appropriate level. However, most groups have atleast one person that has done that dungeon so many times that the whole group just zips right through everything without any challenge or tactics because they know exactly what to expect everytime. It sorta takes the 'exploration' out of the game for me.

There is almost never any lag, at all. Sure, there's over 8 million players, but that's why there's about 50 different servers to choose from.

Yes, you can play WoW without the BC expansion, but you will not be able to create a Draeni character.

About questing... it all depends on the particular quest you are on. More often than not, it's fairly easy to find people to do quests with. Some quests you can do alone, though.

Also, plenty of times (for me at least), I would have trouble with a quest, and a higher level player would help me complete the quest easily, for free. Players are usually very helpful.
