Most Republicans "run right" (ie they are gay-hostile) to pander to the fundamentalists and the right wing nut-cases. They call this paying attention to their "base" (although "base instincts" would be more correct). We are seeing a few cracks in this blanket hostility this year: Giuliani and McCain have both thrown gays a bone (as it were...).
The Democrats take the gay vote totally for granted - they figure that gays have nowhere else to go. That's why even St Hilary and St Obama were very, very slow to disagree with Gen Pace last week went he said gay sex was "immoral". These leading Democrats actually took days to disagree with that statement - and they are supposed to be our champions?? Yet the Democratic party and most Democrats support the main elements of gay rights.
The strongest political thing gay people can do is push the Democrats and then push them and push them some more to support the issues important to GLBT Americans.
Hey, good for you for not having a TV! I

I don't blame you for not having a television, there's nothing good on it anyway!
But as far as Presidential candidates, it's still a tough call. I really don't trust Hilary, mainly because of the bait and switch her hubby did to our community.
Obama has said he's not all that much in favor of gay marriage, but he did vote for GLBT protections in his home state, Illinois.
Edwards will probably pull out since his wife's cancer has returned.
and anyone else probably isn't worth paying attention to...heck, there's about three or four others and I've never heard of them (Well except for Binden...but I just don't think he's President material.)

There is, as always NO candidate that is truly our friend. There are people who are less of an enemy.
I think it really set the mold when Clinton won on a gay rights ticket, and then sold us down the river with Don't Ask Don't Tell AND Defense of Marriage Act. Double betrayal for the price of one.

You don't have a TV? Not even a radio? You don't read newspapers?
I don't think anyone candidate is much better than the other. They are always going to say things to appeal to the audience they are speaking to. What they will do if they get elected is usually completely different.

All I know for sure, so far, is that I wont vote for Obamma.
He is not supportive of gay mariage rights. That's the end of it for me, I don't care about anything else he has to say. I can't understand all the issues, but I can understand this one, and he fails the test. He believes in seperate-but-equal status, and even on that he is 'iffy'. For a black man to believe in seperate but equal is really telling. Shame on him.

Clinton will be the most objective. She is NOT beholding to fundamentalists. WE will not get everything we want from any one administration, but progress in small steps is good. There is NO Republican that will help gay causes.
I am for Clinton, and mainly because her husband is BILL!
