Rallies differ from club to club and region to region.
One club hosted its own D rally at a clubber's farm. I coached a team of five. I stuck around my group all day, supervising them and coaching their riding. The team "stationed" their ponies at their trailors. The riders had inspection before their ride, which is when a judge (in this case, one of the club's instructors) checked how clean the pony was, checked the tack for dirt/cracks/safety, and checked the rider for proper/clean attire and safety. Then, the rider and horse warmed up with me. When it was their time to ride for the "judge" (once again, an instructor), they entered the ring and did their thing. When the rider finished, the team worked together to sponge off the horse, get things cleaned up, etc for the "after ride" inspection. The "after ride" inspection was to make sure the pony was cooled off properly. The "stable manager" helped her/his team members with holding horses, sponging, cleaning, making sure the riders were hydrated, etc.
I remember my group having a lot of fun!
A regional rally will be kinda like what I described above, but a little more formal. Everyone will be helpful. Chances are, you will be in a team with experienced members or at least with an upper level PC mentor to supervise you and to coach you. If you're going to a regional rally, I suggest setting up a meeting with the other team members to discuss the lists of things to bring. There are A LOT of things to take along with you to a "real" rally!
Rallies are full of fun, teamwork and learning. I look back on my rallies with a smile. The only problems I had was getting over heated (no matter how much Gatorade/water I drank) and one time when I didn't get along with my other team members because I was placed on another club's team (THAT WAS A COMPLETE BUMMER!). Other than that, I really enjoyed rallies.
For those 2 or 3 day rallies, you can look forward to FUN at dinners and "sleep overs" at the hotel. I look back on those times with a big smile. WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!
This will be a WONDERFUL learning experience for you! Have fun! Don't forget to take care of your own needs too during the event.
BTW, congrats on your 3rd place at Know Down!

I am an ex PC and was at C2 level before I left. I went to several rallies and they were ALL fun. Don't be worried. You have people there to help you and share with you their experiences. Don't be affraid to ask questions when your not sure and listen. Bring a notebook incase you want to note things down!
