CLR will remove it instantly. You can find it at most home improvement centers and big discounters.

I presume that you live in an area where the rock formations contain a great deal of iron. That iron in the rocks shows up in the crushed stone of the driveways and sidewalks and its near impossible to rid of it.

Muriatic acid will take and convert iron rust to Iron Chloride which is colorless. However, iron chloride is not stable and it will again oxidize back into iron rust.

Given that it is in the sidewalk concrete there isnt much you can do with it other that cover it over for appearance. You can mix about a cup of ordinary gray/white latex paint to three cups of sand and a gallon of portland cement. Add water as needed to make a paint consistency. Then take and roll that on with a roller onto the wetted concrete surfaces. That will not flake off if its done on a dark cloudy day and kept moist to cure.

I have a concrete patio and I use this mix formula to coat my patio concrete yearly. It is over 25 years old and the appearance is very good as this mix has filled small voids and give the surface a barrier against salt, freezing moisture and grease and protected my concrete well.

i had rust on my driveway when i bought my home. i used a power wash to get rid it off.
but be carefull if you plan to use one. depending on the power of the power wash you can create line indentations in the cement/brick. just do a test area to make sure that doesn't happen. the other thing is they are messy.
i bought mine at costco and it is a low pressure one, it's yellow. i've cleaned the whole house and a couple of my neighbors houses, it's the best!
