I have young kids. They found out about youtube and funnyjunk.com at school. There is some VERY inappropriate material for them on those sites. But if I turn on content advisor, it slows everything down too much.

you can add them to your HOSTS file, but your kids might find it, it's not exactly hidden. ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial51.html ). your best bet might be to install filtering software, which may slow things down too. but here is a list:
