Brown eyes are a dominate gene, green and blue are recessive genes. The only way you can have a blue eyed baby is that your mom or dad has blue or green eyes which enabled you to carry a recessive gene...your husband only carries the recessive gene of green or blue....so having a blue eyed baby in your case is 50%...

I am white, with brown hair and blue eyes,my husband is hispanic(black hair and brown eyes) I have a daughter that just turned 7 with brown hair and blue eyes(with tiny specks of brown) and a 6 week old daughter with black hair and absolutely gorgeous blue eyes, bluest I've ever seen. You know they say that brown eyes normally dominate blue,I must have some pretty strong genes,by the way both girls look almost identical, which is "crazy" because they are almost exactly 7 years apart, yes genetics are crazy!!!(but I love the beautiful way they work.)

My parents both have brown eyes. My sister got dark brown, my brother got green, and I got light blue.
My husband has brown eyes, and our 4 month old definitely is blue-eyed.
Eye color genetics is not as straightforward as some other physical characteristics. Many genes work together to determine eye color.
You can usually find a blue eyed relative if your baby has blue eyes, though. My paternal grandfather and I share the same color, and my maternal grandfather shares eye color with my brother. My daughter appears to have the same color of bright blue eyes as my father-in-law.

The blue eyes could be in your family but they might have skipped some generations. I wouldn't worry too much about this as any colour eye is gorgeous in it's own way. Brown, Green, Blue, whatever. It is the person behind the eyes that counts. That is a little saying that I like.
Hope this helps! xxx

I have hazel eyes and my husband has blue eyes. My 4 month old daughter has blue eyes so far, but I don't know if they'll change. What's weird is she started out with light brown hair, then it turned almost black and now it's a reddish color and both my husband and I have naturally dark brown hair.

My son has pretty little blue eyes. I have blonde hair, blue eyes, my husband has dark almost black hair and green eyes really dark also (omg are they beautiful) and my son has the blue eyes but his hair is starting to go dark red! Very strange.
My parents had dark hair always til it turned white. (Father is 70 and mother is in her 60's, I am one of 9 kids total) ALL of their kids were blonde.
Maybe weird results run in the family. :P

While your dominate color of brown eyes makes you have brown eyes, you probably have a blue eye resecessive trait. Your husband (or father of the child) would also have to have a blue eye recessive trait. It's nothing uncommon. Many brown eyed people have blue eyed children.

Well they can be inherited from granparents. The blue eyes....All babies are born with blue eyes, then will probly change they must have not changed yet.
The same thing happened to my cousin. The baby was born with blue eyes, they soon turned brown.

There are no green eyes in our family, but my daughter's eyes are just as green as grass (mine are hazel and my hubby's are brown). She is also looking like she may have red hair, and there is none of that on either side either, except for my grandmother.
Aren't genetics freaky? And yes, I'm sure she's ours, lol :-)
