Let's see ... I drove from Milwaukee to Phoenix in two days. Left at 8:00am, and made it into Denver the first night at just after midnight. Left the second day around 8:00am and pulled into Phoenix at about 10:00pm. LA is maybe another 6 hours from Phoenix. If he drives almost nonstop (5-6 hours stop for sleep), and drives fast, he could make it by Sunday - late on Sunday.

Edited to add: those times are for driving the mid-southern route. If he picks a different route his drive time will be different. I would assume he'd take the southern route because it's still winter in the north, but you never know.

Also - it will depend on his car. I drove slower than I normally would because I was in a stupid Geo Tracker (they didn't go very fast), and I had to stop for gas every 250 miles, so that slowed me down too.

mapquests times get progressively less accurate as the distance increases.
Me I would be with you on saturday night.
How ?
Friday -Madison to Denver about 1000 miles and about 17-18 hours.
Lv Madison 6:00 AM
Arr DEN before midnight- time zone change
Get just west of Denver on I-70 before calling it a night.
Saturday
LV Denver 8:00 AM
Grand Junction by 1:00 PM
and the Rockies are in your rearview
Vegas by 7:30 PM -time zone change
And depending upon where you are in
OC he should be in your arms by midnight.
And yes i have driven it may times

Depends on how long he drives each day. If he drives 33 hours nonstop, he'll get there early Sunday morning, but he'll probably stop somewhere Friday and Saturday and Sunday night.
