You would be able to tell that early but it can be tricky. The female genitals are sometimes very swollen and can be mistaken for a male. The swelling reduces as the baby grows which is why they wait until 20 weeks to give a more sure answer.

I read that its close to time finding out what the gender of the baby will be at 15 weeks, but it all depends on how it's positioned..I don't have an ultrasound schedueled for that until i'm roughly 19 weeks on May 14th.

I found out I was having a boy at just under 14 weeks. Which is quite early but far from impossible.
In my case the penis was VERY obvious.
FYI- the fetus genetalia is developed by week 12, although if it is a boy the scrotum has not dropped and if it is a girl her fallopian tubes and ovaries have not developed
*EDIT* - why would I get a thumbs down for knowing the sex of my baby at 14 weeks?
and for the FYI - do some research. These are FACTS, not opinions

I had my ultrasound done at 15 1/2 weeks, and the tech. was certain it was a girl, so much so that she said to me "it's definately a girl!". When i asked my OB doc at the next months appt. if that was too early to tell, he said "No, especially if she told you it was a girl." the ultrasound i had with my now 3 yr. old son was done at 16 weeks, and we could really tell he was a boy! :) I would have to say that 15 weeks isn't too early...IF the ultrasound tech is good at their job, and the machine/picture is good.

im 15 wks. right now. i went to my doctor a few days ago and he said he would do an ultrasound to see if he could tell but more than likley its just a 50-50 he told me he wants to wait 5 more weeks and by then for sure he should be able to tell. So, my doctor recommended 19 weeks. but im sure if i went in now he could tell.

Depends on the technician, but I would be willing to bet that you can. Usually I've heard around 16 weeks.

Yes, you can. I have a friend who is a sonographer, and she told me I was having a girl at 14 weeks, and she was right. She could tell by my baby's pelvic bone or something...
