you dont "have" to, besides you can only truly forgive someone if you really want to, so if you want to forgive someone after them doing wrong by u for 13 years then go head, but remember only if you want to, besides even if you for give that person you dont have to trust or like that person any longer.

Wronged you, or deceived you? Just because you feel wronged, doesn't mean you were. It's all in perception. The person may have been doing it to protect you from a greater wrong. If they have been abusing you, that's NOT the same thing. Get away, and do it away fast. Do not tolerate furthur abuse.

We are all only human, which means we are all fallible. We all make mistakes. You need to forgive, because to carry around the anger and hostility is unhealthy. That is not to say you have to keep this person in your life. It's just good to forgive. Nobody is perfect, and someday it is you who will need someone's forgiveness. What you put out in the world comes back. Forgiveness is a grand thing. Forgive and let the hostility be gone so there is room for love.

No matter what...I can't hold a grudge if I truly care for the person. However, if the act is horrible, maybe then its unforgivable. Even when I do forgive, it always stays with me what that person did, but holding grudges makes me miserable, so forgive and move on. Some forgiveness takes time.

If they deliberately wronged you for 13 years than no, you do not need to forgive them.

But, speaking from experience here....it really doesn't do anything but keep you down to hang onto whatever negative feelings you're having....

I stayed mad at my ex for three years and once I was able to let it go.....I still haven't and won't ever forgive him.....but I did let go of the anger and hurt that I felt towards him.....I was finally able to move on with my life and now things are just peachy keen.....

As long as you're holding onto the negative....its what you will put out there as well....

Best of luck (even if you are Poosocks :( )

Forgiveness does not mean complete absolution. If a person has wronged you and is not sorry, you do not have to forgive them but harboring hatred or bitterness will only take up energy and time. It is best to avoid people who hurt you if possible.

the whole 13 years, or 13 years ago? Forgive but don't forget.

Yes! Forgivness won't do a lot for that person. They may never even know. But it will do wonders for you. Forgivness can free you. And you are most important.

Its better to forgive because you don't want to harbor resentment in your heart that will make you sick but you don't have to have that person wrong you anymore. You can choose to stay away from that person. And if they broke the law turn them in so they can't t wrong you again!

Talk to them about it and if they still are rude about it and deny it and everything, then don't forgive.
But you might find out something you didn't know that will make you forgive them.
Don't give up too fast.
