No. Fission requires splitting the nucleii of radioactive ATOMS .. dangerous to say the least. Fusion requires forcing two atoms together to merge into one atom .. that involves a LOT of force.

The mere containment and control of these kinds of energies is very difficult. In a collision, the fission car would be disasterously explosive with nuclearly-unstable atoms.

But the fusion car would simply and immediately lose power, like a fire without fuel. Without sufficient force, the clean, bio-friendly fusion fuel of hydrogen isotopes immediately stop fusing and the power generation ceases immediately.

Nevertheless, given the amounts of energy in fission and fusion, these are best left for stationary applications, which may in turn charge cars from an electrical outlet or create hydrogen fuel to meet our portable consumption needs.

Cold fusion is not possible, ever, because no method can ignore the enormous amounts of energy (hot) required to overcome the nuclear "activation" energy for fusing atoms. Cold fusion will forever remain a sci-fi fantasy and nothing more.

Perhaps if there is ever a real cold fusion process.

The problem with fusion and fission is that both require some amount of nuclear fuel. Nuclear fuel is not just unsafe, it is unsafe for eons!

I think that the level of safety technology required would make the cost of the cars prohibitive.

On the other hand electric and hydrogen powered automobiles are real today. Developing the kinds of fuel supply infrastructure that gasoline has is greatest obstacle.

There is no technology available at present to make controlled fusion or fission at such micro level to run a car

No. The shielding and containment would weigh many tons.
