My husband had an interview last week. I think there were 3 candidates. The evening of his interview, the company called him and said they wanted to see him for more questions. They asked additional questions, did a test, and told him they'd call early this week. Monday he got a message from the woman who interviewed him, and when they finally were able to get in touch with each other, she told him she had sent his paperwork to HR and was waiting on a background check. She never actually *said* he had the job, but she told him she would call as soon as she heard back from HR. That was a couple of days ago. She even told him she would be in town Wednesday-Friday. (Today is Thurs., and the company's HQ isn't local.) We thought that since she called him and told him she had sent his paperwork off, etc. etc., that meant he had the job. But we haven't heard back from her. What do y'all think? Should he call her back?

Any thoughts appreciated!

Background checks can take 3-4 (sometimes 5) days. So, don't worry, but I'd give a call on Monday

Yes he should call her back. I wouldn't put all of my eggs in one basket and be 100% sure that he has the job until all of the details come back from the background check and everything is acceptable to the company he applied to.

Also, I always say you're never considered "hired" until you fill out your I-9 and W-4.....

While it sounds very promising, they are doing their due diligence as a company to verify the information they have from your husband. Depending on what they are checking on, they could be waiting for information from additional people to get back with him.

As hard as it is. I would call no sooner then tomorrow late afternoon just to check in to make sure she didn't need help in getting the information needed.

Good luck - interviewing and job hunting are nerve wracking!

I think he will get the job, assuming he passes the background check and the bosses brother-in-law (or cousin or whomever) doesn't suddenly need a job. I would call back just to reiterate my interest in the position and to see if they needed any additional information or references or whatnot. Good luck.

My company does background checks. Yes, he *probably* got the job.

The company can't tell him he got the job until he passes the background investigation because they might be liable if he does something like take out new credit or quit his old job.

Don't forget, background investigations cost money - they *probably* wouldn't be doing one if they didn't intend to give him the job.

If this is a job that your husband really wants and is excited about, then call back friday. It wont hurt, this will show the company that he is interested.

Well because HR isn't local it probally takes awhile to process. I think you guys should just wait and see what happens. Put it in God's hands.
