Hi, My 6 month old still cannot roll over and hates being on her front. She can however sit and stand supported. Should I be helping her along?

You don't need to worry - babies all develop differently. My brother starting rolling over from his tummy at 2 weeks, and I didn't until 4 months. My son didn't roll over from his back until the day he turned 6 months. If she can sit and stand supported, she doesn't sound like she's having any developmental problems. She just doesn't like being on her tummy. She'll roll over eventually.
My doctor always reminds me when I worry about my son not reaching certain milestones at a certain age- children grow up in spite of us, not because of us!

Some babies have a hard time if they are larger or were born large because they have more weight to roll. I would talk to your pediatrician before trying to guess. It could be absolutely nothing to worry about or something easily treatable. I would, if I were you, try to help her along, showing her how to do it, helping her roll over and do it as a game, making it a fun thing to do. She may get the hang of it right away!

My son hated being on his tummy, but he crawled at six months. Every child is different, so do not be worried. I would put her on her tummy every day for about 5 minutes just so she builds muscles in her arms and stomach. She'll roll over when she's ready. It's honestly nothing to worry about if she shows no other symptoms of a delayed child.

Absolutely. There have been some studies done on children who 'skip' developmental skills (like crawling. rolling over), which suggest that it could cause, or be a sign of dyslexia later. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with her of course...but when they're a bit older and want to do a sommersault, you help them learn. It's the same thing with helping her learn to roll over now.

YES, help the baby in any way you can. Give her tummy time a little at a time, it's important because it helps strengthen the neck muscles. Also, help her roll over. You are not hurting her, think of it as giving her broccoli when she's older --she may not like it, but you know it's beneficial for her so you give it to her a little at a time. It is amazing how God created us, things we wouldn't think are that important actually prepare us for specific things as we develop and grow. If you are really concerned address this issue to her pediatrician.

Hello there, my little one hated being on her belly as well but with lots of encouragment and consistancy ( tummy time every day) she just rolled over one day. It was like she wasn't even trying. I found if you help your little one by putting her hands in front of her fairly close together under her chin, she will be able to roll over easier. Once my little one really started crying (not just that gruntly-shouty type) I knew it was time to stop. Usually about five minutes or less!

I wouldn't worry at all. My daughter didn't roll over until she was ten months old! She hated laying on her front, so I guess she had no desire to roll over. She walked, talked and did everything else early, so I would just let your daughter do it in her own time :-)

I would talk to her peditrician. It is a little unusual that she isn't rolling over. If she is sitting unsupported and standing with help, I'd say she's doing ok though. I wouldn't worry too much but it is something to mention to the doctor.

Play with her and enjoy her. One of my grandsons wasn't rolling over until almost 8 months and didn't walk until 14 months. He is fine! Her pediatrician will let you know if there is a problem. Don't worry, just love her!

Just to be on the safe side you should speak to a pediatrician. She's probably fine but there is some evidence that indicates that kids who skip developmental stages can have problems later, as someone else mentioned. My sister-in-law never crawled. She went straight to walking and then ended up having some problems with dyslexia later. My mother-in-law said the doctor thought it was due to her not crawling. So, you should probably speak to someone just to be sure.
