There's certainly nothing that can be done to make him shorter! If his weight and height are in proportion to each other then he should be fine. If his height were in the 5% and his weight were in the 95%, then there would be a problem.
The biggest problems I can imagine will be social problems. Because he looks older than he is, people will expect him to be able to do more than he actually can (like sit up, crawl, and walk).

As long as his weight is proportionate to his height, there shouldn't be a problem.
My son was in the 100% of the growth chart his entire life (actually off the charts for height a few months!) but he didn't weigh 18 pounds until he was five months! Maybe the Doctor was more concerned about the weight gain??

The doctor said he's too tall? Maybe he's off the growth chart? At his stage, it's too soon to know if he weighs too much. They will keep an eye on him and continue to plot his growth to see if he is consistently weighing in too high. Ask the doctor to use a height-weight chart instead of an age-weight chart. Just curious--what's he eating?

Depending on his length, but 18 pounds is a lot for a 2 month old. How much did he weigh at birth? My son is 3 months old and he weighs 11 pounds. My friends baby is 4 months old and weighs 15 pounds. As long as he's healthy and the doctors aren't concerned I wouldn't worry about it.

What did the doctor say, other than he's too big? I wouldn't worry to much and take the suggestions the doctor gave as far a his weight. As for his height, well there's not much that can be done, right?

Listen don't worry about what they doctor says as long as they are not unhealthy. My daughter was very very big as a baby and she is still a little chunky but has lost a lot of weight when she became active so no its not bad. Don't worry.

Our doctor said stuff like that. My daughter is taller then most her age, my second daughter's head was too big and she was short for her age, my son is taller then most his age. Every kid is different, your son is about 6 or 7 lbs bigger then most babies. Right now my daughter who is 3 and my son who is 19mo. both weigh about 25 lbs. My son doesn't look big and my daughter doesn't look too small. I just think there going by some national average they just don't what to tell us what that average is!
