Ants are the spawn of the devil. We have had them for years in our house in spite of my every effort to stop them. They get through the smallest cracks.
Our most effective weapon is Terro packs. This is a gel inside of easy open packs and you can buy a refill bottle that lessen's the cost slightly. Next best is Boric acid mixed with sugar and water. the mix needs to be about 3 parts boric acid to 7 sugar. Both will be carried back to the nest and HOPEFULLY kill em all. But I think it just stops them from coming inside for a while. Or maybe it is killing them but new troops arrive sooner or later. Keep the bait on hand. Unless you poison your entire area they will never go away.
An important note is that can sense their trails, and other ants trails, their herd or not. (herd are they herds? no colonies..lmao close enuff). Bleach cleaning of the entrance trails will help the situation.
Another method is to pour soda on the floor where you see them. They will soon show up in droves to drink the sugar. Use a hammer to squash em.. This method works best when you are really stoned and have a lot of time to hammer and fix the floor.

If they are in the kitchen then they are sure to be happy ,try and keep all your food stuff in tight lid containers, also if you can leave a small amount of sugar on the counter top or on the floor then they will go for that ,all you have to do is watch and wait . Once you think you know where they are coming from put black pepper around this will get rid of them , they will then carry this into there tunnel and achoo they will soon find another place to live

Go their nest with a note saying -
Dear Ants,
This note is just to let you know that as a human being, with intelligence, hopes, desires and emotions as well as the capacity for independent thought, I pity you. As an ant, you are a modest entity, with a brain only capable of following a restricted set of patterned behaviour and a miniscule life expectancy in which to do it. You've one stab at life, and you were unlucky enough to be given the status of 'ant' in which to enjoy it. Bad luck.
They'll read it, and kill themselves. Job done.

Search for the ants nest everywhere. It is usually in the garden or in a shed. It will be a mound of very fine soil. If you find it, push a long stick into the centre of it and pour strong bleach mixed with water in the hole made by the stick. You won't see them again. Do it soon because all their eggs will be hatching soon.

If i'm not mistaken they are making a B line for your kitchen table or larder and they are smaller than garden variety and they are food ants..meat..cheese etc. If you've got a fridge..put as much food that you can in it. Clean off your table leaving no scraps of food about. The next thing to do is to match your inteligence against theirs and divert their invasion. Killing them wont be easy and you might have to call a pest controller.

Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.

I've had to deal with a similar problem. My solution isn't perfect, but it does help.
Seal around where pipes and wires come into your kitchen, including up in the counters. And keep a spray bottle of diluted Lysol in the kitchen: That kills the critters and helps sterilize your counters too.

most garden centers have lots of things for killing ants, but the best way is to find out how they are getting in to your house and work from there
