Zoloft is notorious for both loss of sex drive and huge weight gains. I would investigate how Hormone Replacement Therapy might help you. I was using anti-depressants for what I thought was depression.I was misdiagnosed. It was Adrenal Fatige Syndrome; where the stress and my workload had overtaxed my system emulating depression.
After starting the HRT with a visit to a reputable HRT physician, I was able to stop ALL anti-depressants and cholesterol meds. This was due to the discovery of levels of key hormones being extremely low. The hormones were causing "dominoe" loss of functionality within my endocrinology. I am in better condition, losing the weight packed on by anti-depressants and feel like I am 20 years younger. I also sleep extremely well and have no uncontrollable food cravings. Check out the website below and find an HRT Dr. quickly.

No you haven't stopped liking girls or anythig like that, it's just a side affect called low libido, most antidepressants cause this, even these pain killers im on now make me think less about sex. I don't like anti depressants, cause you need to increase the dose after a while and it makes you feel emotionless, but they work well for some. When u come off zoloft you cant just stop taking them, u have to wein off them and you'll feel like crap. If anxiety is your problem get a prescription for xanax or diazepam. For depression the best thing u can do is exercise, stay away from those nasty anti depressants. get well soon.

I'm on Zoloft too. I still have the drive, it just affects my ability to sploot. Nothing else for me to do but study, I guess. :)
No, your sex drive isn't destroyed. The volume just got turned down.
Don't stop taking meds just because of that though. If you need it, you need it. And hell, you're in a great position: Most people who aren't scoring get bummed about it, and would need an antidepressant! You're all set.

It doesn't "destroy" your sex drive as far as I know.
I know that when I was on paxil, it effected me in many negative ways...probably more negative than positive..including my sex drive.
Now that I am off, everything has seemed to "repair" itself, and it has also given me a new perspective on maintining and managing my own depression/anxiety through things like diet and exersise.
I know some people are totally screwed when they are not medicated, but I am proably one of the millions of people who was diagnosed with depression/anxiety after only 5 minutes consultation with my doctor...which was a mistake.
But to answer your question again, most likely when you stop your meds, (not stop, but dwindle down - stopping them outright could be harmful) you will regain your sex drive.

You should have read the stuff before you started taking it. I used to beat my wife, kick the dog, punch the kids, throw bricks are those dirty pigs that are always trying to take me to jail, and also pee on my neighbors. So my wife wanted me to get on paxal (very similar to what you are taking). The doctor said he reccomended it, but I did not want to take it because it may significantly, and permanently decrease your libido... In layman's term, you may never want the poontang again.
This is why am very hesitant to take anything that is long term. Medical companies make their money off of people taking medication for the rest of their life. I am not crazy about docs or meds or anything, but zoloft is rediculous.
I did not take the paxal, but I just practiced a little self control... don't get me wrong I still beat my wife and shot ak's at the pigs, but I started doing yoga and excersizing regularly and that helped me stop beating the kids... that is just wrong. You have to learn to live with who you are or learn how to change yourself, no medication is going to make that happen for you. This was meant to be partially funny and partially true, you can figure it out.

Yes it will go away, just be sure not to stop cold turkey from taking the Zoloft it can also have side effects. If you just started taking it, you can also get used to it and your sex problem will be less noticeable.

you know it's funny that you mention Zoloft. Doctors tried to prescribe Zoloft to me because I suffered from anxiety. I took Zoloft one time only because I HATED the way it made me feel. I was listening to Dr. Hulda Clark on NPR yesterday, she's really into hoilistic healing. I know it sounds weird ut it made sense she basically said we're so overloaded with toxins we are in desparate need ofetoxing our bodiies. So why don't you try that, it shouldn't hurt.

I had to stop taking Zoloft because of it's sedative side effect on me. I switched to Prozac and had my testosterone level checked. It was low too. I got a low dose supplement and now its a whole new world, baby!

You need to talk with a licensed psychiatrist or physician about this. It may be a side effect of the medication, or it may be part of your depression. If this medication isn't working for you, your doctor will help you find one that will. Good luck.
