She's not ready yet. What readiness cues has she been giving? Or did you decide it was time?

"Developmental signs that baby is ready for solids
Solids readiness depends on both the maturity of baby’s digestive tract and baby’s developmental readiness for solids. Although the maturity of baby’s digestive system is not something that we can readily observe, research indicates that 6 months appears to be ideal for avoiding the allergies and other health risks of too-early solids. After this point, different babies are ready for solids at different times -- developmental readiness for solids cannot be determined using a calendar. Most babies are developmentally ready for solids somewhere between 6 and 8 months.
Signs that indicate baby is developmentally ready for solids include:
* Baby can sit up well without support.
* Baby has lost the tongue-thrust reflex and does not automatically push solids out of his mouth with his tongue.
* Baby is ready and willing to chew.
* Baby is developing a “pincer” grasp, where he picks up food or other objects between thumb and forefinger. Using the fingers and scraping the food into the palm of the hand (palmar grasp) does not substitute for pincer grasp development.
* Baby is eager to participate in mealtime and may try to grab food and put it in his mouth.
We often state that a sign of solids readiness is when baby exhibits a long-term increased demand to nurse (sometime around 6 months or later) that is unrelated to illness, teething pain, a change in routine or a growth spurt. However, it can be hard to judge whether baby’s increased nursing is related to readiness for solids. Many (if not most) 6-month-old babies are teething, growth spurting and experiencing many developmental changes that can lead to increased nursing – sometimes all at once! Make sure you look at all the signs of solids readiness as a whole, because increased nursing alone is not likely to be an accurate guide to baby’s readiness."

Babies are all different, but 6 months is usually a good time to introduce "solid" foods... She may not be ready yet - take the rice cereal and mix it with a little apple juice - Try to stay away from the more exotic stuff. (in case she has allergies)

Sweet potato has a lot of sugar and rice is bland, she probably is just being picky. Be careful which foods you give her, as for getting sick, she may have eaten too much or just didn't like your cooking. Try pasta broken up with a fork, be sure it's not to hot. It's easier to digest.

Well not sure why your child got sick after eating sweet potatoes. But I think you have waited to long to introduce solids. I was feeding both my kids solids at about 8 weeks old and they both are healthy and eat almost anything put in front of them. But you have to start slowly. Try putting stage one fruits in a bottle of formula to dilute it and see if she can handle that. And then move up from there.

i replaced into going to attend till my son replaced into 6 months as pronounced yet he stopped gaining as plenty weight as he were each and each month and likewise started waking interior the direction of the night for a feed. So i began giving him solids at 5 months and water in a sippy cup. He replaced into solely breastfeed up till then and that i'm nevertheless breastfeeding. you should continuously attempt him on some rice cereal or candy potato yet you will possibly discover he won't take it so then placed it off for yet another month. Goodluck.

Babies do things when they're damn well good and ready, not a min before, lol.
I may just be that she doesn't want you to feed her, try giving her some finger foods like toast 'soldiers' and things like that, she won't be able to chew them, but she'll have great fun 'gumming' them. It'll get her used to putting solid things inside her mouth.

WAIT.
Shes obviously not ready for solids yet!
Just give her another month or so and try again-with fresh food... not jarred, and not boxed. FRESH!
She will actually let you know when shes ready... She will start reaching for food and possibly grunting when you dont "share". At that point you can give her soft food off of your plate.

Your little one could be loving it and you figure they hate it because you expect them to eat allot, remember 1tsp full can make a huge amount of difference in a little tummy. Taste takes time and texture also. Be patient and best of luck

It takes time. If she's uninterested, then try again in a week or so. She'll eventually go for it -- no worries.
