4-6 peas. However, peas would grow better on netting or chicken wire.
Pole beans however are wonderful for poles or canes.

dig a trench about 9 ins wide and as long as you need, put the peas in it about 4 ins apart and cover with soil, use some wire netting in the shape of a C and erect it over the trench, the peas will grow through it and make picking easier
