it's chapped skin that's coming off. it looks better if you brush your lips while your brushing your teeth to remove the dead skin and then put it on. or you can just use chapstick.

My guess is that it is dead skin flakes mixing with the vaseline. After you get this white goo wipe it off and reapply. If you keep up with this ritual and use vaseline or a chap stick daily, this should stop happening.

It is probably one of two things:
a. It is not properly absorbed. You have to put a very tiny amount on, otherwise, it will just build up. It's like putting on too much lotion, and then having a blob of it that you don't know where to put because you can't cram it back in the bottle.
b. I've had instances where, after putting on a ton of lip gloss, I have these kind of white, fatty looking strings on my lips. These mean that the excessive amounts of whatever you put on have overmoisturized some parts because it wasn't evenly distributed.

I really hadn't found out what it is, but I get it when i wear regular lip gloss too. I guess the mixture of your saliva and the gloss from being on your lips so long. I could put some on now and have to wipe off in 10 Min's and reapply. And yes it's very gross looking.

That NEVER happens to me and I use Vaseline on my lips all the time. Make sure you are apply the Vaseline on clean lips....no make-up or toothpaste or anything. That's weird!

It's probably just dead dry skin. Try exfoliating your lips, and using the vaseline or chapstick more often.

Its dried skin, and petroleum, and icky stuff that shouldn't be on your lips. I wouldn't suggest using it,I would suggest Burt's Bee's,and or any lip balm, you prefer. Or use the vaseline chap stick, that works well too. Good luck!
